As the global health pandemic continues, Asbury’s pastors, staff, and lay leaders have discussed how to proceed and announce the following updates (as of March 23):
The building will remain closed for 2 additional Sundays (through and including April 5, Palm Sunday). All staff are working from home.
In the midst of the chaotic situation in the world, our commitment is to be a Church devoted to helping people continue to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. As we’ve previously noted, following the boundaries of social distancing does not mean that we cease being Church. It simply means that we do church in new and uncharted ways. Our staff and volunteers continue to work on ways to keep all of us connected in remote ways. If you’ve not yet done so, we invite you to view the many resources that have been shared to this point in the daily updates that are archived at asburylv.org/coronavirus
We also remain committed to holding online worship weekly, although the methods of worshipping are evolving. Considerations are being made to hold worship remotely, with both live and pre-recorded elements used.
We realize that your personal financial landscape may have drastically changed in these few short weeks; but if you are able to continue to financially support the ministries of Asbury, please prayerfully consider doing so. We strongly encourage you to give online through PushPay, our online giving portal, at asburylv.org/give
, but you can also mail a check in to the church office. Your contributions will continue to help support the worship and ministries of Asbury. Additionally, we are retaining our commitment to compensating our staff at this time.
Leadership continues to monitor the situation and additional announcements will be communicated through the same channels (email, social media, website).
Finally, we ask you to earnestly pray for the situation at hand: for wisdom for leaders - national, state, local, and church, for strength for medical personnel and first responders, and for healing - physical and emotional - for those affected by this virus.
