Asbury’s Keep-In-Touch (KIT) Team is providing a free seminar on memory loss with guest speaker Kelly (Hentz) Stephenson on Saturday, October 27, 2018. The three (3) hour program will begin at 9:00 AM. Local aging-in-place vendors, agencies and providers will have tables in the Community Room and share their knowledge and programs with participants. Reservations would be helpful, but this event is open to the public. Kelly, who is the daughter of Asbury’s long-time handbell choir director Phyllis Hentz, will be speaking in the Sanctuary. Thank you to all those who hosted and attended our Dementia Seminar!
Through an anonymous donation, the KIT (Keep in Touch) Team of Asbury Church was able to sponsor the Dementia Seminar on Saturday October 27, 2018. Thirty-seven Asbury members and members of the larger community spent three hours interacting with Kelly Stephenson, our speaker and daughter of the congregation.
Ms. Stephenson assisted participants in their understanding of Dementia, including signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s Disease and recognition of early warning signs of the unset of dementia. Those in attendance spoke afterwards of their appreciation for the event and Ms. Stephenson’s help with hands-on tips for caring for a family member, friend, or loved one affected by the disease. In her concluding remarks Kelly spoke of Care for the Caregiver.
Approximately two dozen agencies and elder care providers from the Lehigh Valley donated pens and other goodies allowing each participant to leave the session with a bag full of vendor’s helpful information.
A special thanks to the KIT team members who donated their time and effort to help make this event a success.
