Rise Against Hunger
Over 224,000,000 meals
International hunger relief to 71 countries.
Come be the hands and feet of Jesus!
In December of 2016, Asbury hosted a meal packing event during our Advent Celebration. Together we assembled a total of 10,152 meals for the international hunger relief organization known then as Stop Hunger Now. The meals we packed were included in a container totaling 285,120 meals from Stop Hunger Now's Philadelphia warehouse. This shipment of meals was sent to the Salesians of Don Bosco in Zambia who respond to the needs of hundreds of children in crisis. We are excited to partner with Rise Against Hunger again this year to help build the movement to end hunger.
On Saturday, February 17, 2018 Asbury will host a meal packing event for Rise Against Hunger. We are looking for 40 - 50 volunteers of all ages to join together in the Wesley Center from 1pm until 3pm. Together we will pack over 10,000 nutritious meals and help make a positive difference in the fight against hunger.
We are also in need of contributions to help cover the cost of the meals we have committed to packing. It costs about $0.29 cents per meal and we are committed to packing 10,152 meals for a total cost of $2,994.00.

About Rise Against Hunger
In 1998, envisioning a world without hunger, Ray Buchanan — a United Methodist minister — founded Stop Hunger Now. In 2017, Stop Hunger Now rebranded to become Rise Against Hunger. Rise Against Hunger’s mission is to end hunger in our lifetime by providing food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable and creating a global commitment to mobilize the necessary resources.
Rise Against Hunger’s approach to ending hunger centers on mobilizing a global network of hunger champions. Rise Against Hunger’s meal packaging program is a volunteer-based initiative that coordinates the assembly-line packaging of highly nutritious dehydrated meals comprised of rice, soy, vegetables, and 23 essential vitamins and minerals. Meal packaging volunteers produce millions of nutritious meals annually that are then distributed to partners in countries around the world.
