A good slogan to remember when you do your grocery shopping- Grab some food for the Allentown Ecumenical Food Bank. Bring it with you to church, and place in the containers next to the elevator on the ground floor and outside the sanctuary under the table holding the book for the Memorial Garden.

The Allentown Ecumenical Food Bank needs your help. Asbury has a team who go to the food bank one morning/ month to help bag food for clients. At that time they take along the food you donate for distribution to those in need. Food is always needed, however there are rules which must be followed in providing donations; otherwise the food must be discarded. 1. No perishable food. 2. No food past the expiration date on the container or can. 3. No food in glass containers. 4. No open packages of food.

The foods that typically are needed the most are as follows:

  • Cereals
  • Rice (1 pound bags) or boxed
  • Canned tuna
  • Peanut butter or jelly/jam (in plastic bottles)
  • Canned vegetables
  • Canned fruits
  • Spaghetti sauce (preferred in plastic bottles)
  • Soups
  • Potato/pasta/rice package mixes
  • Macaroni and cheese mixes
