2020 Ramos Work Day

Since the Allentown School District schools won't be physically open we've delayed our Annual Ramos Work Day until September 26th (with a rain date of October 3rd) from 9:00 AM to noon.  We'll be cleaning up the grounds and remulching the playground.  We will follow the governor's guidelines for masks, distancing and number of people.  If you can help, please add your name to our Google Sheet.

Collection of Items for Ramos Elementary Classrooms

Teachers at our partner school, Ramos Elementary, have requested supplies to help keep their classrooms and students safe this fall.  Please start gathering, Clorox wipes, paper towels, tissues, hand sanitizer, hand soap for classroom use.  We'll have a collection day at Asbury in August to gather these items for delivery to Ramos.  If you have questions, contact Dick McCreight. Ramos Christmas: Thank You!!

A note from Dick McCreight on the Christmas gifts for students at Luis Ramos Elementary School in the Allentown School District: Thank you Asbury for adopting Ramos families for Christmas again this year.  We adopted 12 families this time--the most ever.  Gifts were delivered to the school this morning (Monday, December 16) where they were received with great enthusiasm!  We learned that among the 12 families, one had lost everything in a fire, at least one was living in 6th Street Shelt ...

Adopt a Ramos Family for Christmas

For the past 4 years, Asbury has adopted families from our partner school, Ramos Elementary, to help provide a memorable Christmas. At Ramos Elementary, the majority of students' families live in poverty and a number are simply unable to provide for Christmas gifts.  With the help of Ramos' counselors a list of families is generated for Asbury to adopt.  Last year we were able to provide for 65 family members!  If your family or group would like to adopt a family for the 2019 Christmas season ...

Ramos Elementary Trunk-or-Treat (October 20)

This year for the first time Asbury is teaming with 4 other faith communities (The Barn, Trinity Wesleyan Church, Resurrected Life Community Church, and Faith Presbyterian Church) to provide a Trunk or Treat experience for the children at our partner school, Ramos Elementary.  This will give children in the Ramos neighborhood a safe, daylight opportunity to trick or treat.  We've committed to at least 5 decorated trunks from Asbury so we need your help.  The event is on Sunday afternoon, Octo ...

Have a few free hours during the school day, and want to make a difference in children's lives? Our partner school, Ramos Elementary in Allentown, is looking for a few classroom volunteers. Contact Jeannie Muthard at if interested.

Ramos Work Day (Help Prep for Their First Day of School!)

Join us at Asbury's partner school, Ramos Elementary at 14th and Allen, on August 24th to help get the campus looking great for Ramos students and teachers on the first day of school.  We'll be applying certified mulch to the playground, decorative mulch around the shrubbery, trimming shrubs, pulling weeds and picking up litter.  There is a job for everyone regardless of age.  We'll start at 9:00 am and plan to wrap it up by noon.  Email Dick McCreight at if you can help.
