Fall 2015 Small Group Opportunities

One of the important lessons we learned during our sermon series "Revival: Faith As Wesley Lived It" was that Methodism would never have started without Christians meeting in a small group. When you get together with other Christians in a small group environment you find it will give you the power and strength to become the person God created you to be. Journey 101: Knowing God Bible Study

Beginning on Wednesday September 23rd Pastor Eric will be facilitating a class called “Journey 101: Knowing God”. The class will be from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM for six straight Wednesday evenings. This class focuses on exploring the good news of the Bible and discovering Bible study tools and resources to deepen your understanding of God and the Scriptures. Dig Deep Bible Study

Join us for 6 sessions as we study James to learn how to live the Christian life. We meet every other Sunday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 PM in room 106 beginning on Sunday, September 27. Rally Day & Picnic - Sun 9/13

Blood Drive Sunday 10/18 – Give the gift of life!

The Parish Nurse Health Ministry has arranged for The Miller-Keystone Bloodmobile to be at Asbury Church on Sunday, October 18th 8:30 AM to 1 PM outside the Wesley Center. We encourage families to give together in the spirit of giving to others. Teens can give blood starting at age 17. There will be a table set up in the community room starting September 27 to sign up. One pint of blood can save three lives! Sign up today.

The Gathering Fall Book Study

We will be reading Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus: How the Jewishness of Jesus Can Transform Your Faith by Ann Spangler and Lois Tverberg. Disciple 1 & 2 starting this Fall

Disciple 1 Disciple 1 is a part of the Disciple Fast Track, which is a shorter version of the Disciple Bible Study program. It runs 24 weeks instead of 34 weeks. The cost of the study guide is $40, which covers the Old and New Testaments (Disciple 1 and 2). If you would like to take a leap forward in your faith journey, you are invited to participate. Grocery bags needed for Salem Food Pantry Mission

The Salem Food Pantry Mission is in immediate need of plastic grocery bags in good condition for bagging fresh produce provided through our church. The next Food Pantry scheduled is Saturday, August  14th, and it would be important to have bags then as well as the other times. Volunteers work the first and third Saturday of each month, bagging fresh produce and developing relationships with the ministry and the people it serves. Thank you for supporting the monthly UMW special collections

A heartfelt thank you, from the UMW to the entire Asbury Congregation, for your generous donations during the month of May, which will benefit Sacred Heart’s Outreach Programs. 

In addition, July's collection filled two bags of school supplies for The Freedom Schools’ "Back to School Bash". Along with the 24 book bags purchased by the UMW, this will make a bunch of children very happy come September.

Wednesday Evening Bible Study Group will be studying the Book of Acts – Starting 9/9

After starting with the Gospel of John last spring, the Wednesday evening Bible study will study the Book of Acts throughout this coming year. We will start the week after Labor Day and meet from 6:30-8:30 every week with breaks for holidays. However, it is fine for you to join in as often or as little as you'd like.
