Traditional Worship

Sundays at 11:00 AM in the Sanctuary

Chancel ChoirIf you are enriched by a more traditional and ordered style, we welcome you to this service that includes liturgy, responsive readings, and children's time. A time of prayer and the pastor's message provide a common theme between this service and the other morning services.  Be at peace as the organ, played by organists, Ken Schneider and Carol Lenhart, swells with music in majestic style.  Come and feel God's spirit as the Chancel Choir, accompanied and a capella, fills the sanctuary with classical music of the ages and Spirituals. The Sanctuary Choir shares worship leadership with a variety of musical styles that move and uplift.  Youth, children and bell choirs periodically lead worship, praising God and inspiring us with voice and instrument.

Open Door Community Worship

Open Door LogoSundays at 10:45 in the Wesley Center

The Open Door Community Worship takes a more modern, relaxed approach to worship. Entering the Wesley Center, you will find a coffee-house, casual atmosphere, where light refreshments are offered, and you can sit on portable chairs, or around a table. You will also find prayer stations and a children's area. This service features contemporary Christian rock and praise songs led by a band with guitars, drums, keyboards and vocalists. The service also features dramas, videos and a message with discussion questions. Communion is offered each week.

In the coming weeks at Open Door:

RethinkChurch

Jesus founded the church to carry on his mission; to serve as his hands and voice in the world.  He loved broken and lost people.  He offered healing and hope and forgiveness.  He proclaimed good news of a God who loved prodigal children.

Recent national surveys of young adults reveal a great interest in Jesus, but an antipathy to the church.  As one author has put it, "They like Jesus, but not the church."  Perhaps this is why, according to one recent poll, only 30% of Americans are in worship on a given weekend.

Perhaps it's time to RethinkChurch. This three-week series will challenge us to  understand and reclaim Jesus' vision for the church; understand why the church matters to God; and seek to become the church Jesus intended.

  • September  12, 2010 (Rally Day)  - A Christian Community, based on Romans 12:9-17
  • September  19, 2010 - A Church with Open Doors, based on Matthew 9:9-13
  • September  26, 2010 - What if Church were a “Verb”, based on Matthew 16:13-18
